About us

Crafted by Hand. Rooted in Heart

Priya Keswani Label is a clothing brand deeply inspired by India’s centuries-old craft of hand block printing. Every piece we create is carefully handcrafted — not just stitched, but story-woven. Our artisans work with wooden blocks, natural dyes, and generations of skill to bring our designs to life.

Carving the Wooden Blocks

Skilled artisans hand-carve the design onto blocks of seasoned teak or sheesham wood. This is an incredibly intricate task: Each color in the design requires a separate block. Tiny chisels are used to create the detailed, raised relief pattern Some blocks take several days to carve, depending on complexity. These blocks become the core printing tools, passed down and reused over generations.

Mixing the Natural Dyes

In block printing, color isn’t just pigment — it’s a living, breathing element of the story. Each hue is mixed by hand, guided not by machines, but by intuition and experience — a little more heat, a little more sunlight, a patient stir until the perfect shade emerges. These aren’t factory-made tones. They’re sunlit blues, soil-warmed reds, and plant-washed yellows — quietly alive on fabric, and kinder to the skin and planet.

The Printing Process

This is where the true magic happens. The block is dipped into the dye tray, ensuring even coverage With careful precision, the artisan presses the block onto the fabric They tap it with the side of their hand or a mallet to ensure full contact. The process is repeated across the fabric — one press at a time. For multicolor designs, artisans align multiple blocks layer by layer. This step demands precision, rhythm, and years of practice. A small misalignment can distort the pattern.

Drying and Fixing the Print

Once printed, the fabric is: Air-dried (often under the sun) Then passed through processes like steaming or curing to fix the dyes In some cases, it is washed again to remove excess dye and bring out the richness of the color.

Crafted to Completion

Once the fabric is printed and dried under the open sky, the journey is far from over. Every block-printed textile passes through thoughtful hands again — cut, stitched, and finished with the same love it was printed with. No shortcuts. No mass production. The result? A garment that doesn’t just look beautiful — it feels like heritage. Every crease carries the story of time-honored craft, and every thread is a tribute to the people who made it. These aren’t just clothes. They’re conversations in cotton. And you're now part of their story.
